Community Engagement and Settlement Planning Coordinator
Iskatewizaagegan No. 39 Independent First Nation (IIFN39) is seeking a motivated, organized, and communityminded individual to fill the position of Community Engagement and Settlement Planning Coordinator.
This position will play a key role in supporting the Nation’s settlement planning process by coordinating community
engagement activities, gathering feedback from Band Members, and helping ensure that future decisions
regarding settlement funds reflect the priorities and values of our people.
The successful candidate will work closely with Chief and Council, community members, Elders, Knowledge
Keepers, legal counsel, and external partners to facilitate meaningful consultation opportunities and support the
development of recommendations and policies related to settlement planning.
Location: Iskatewizaagegan No. 39 Independent First Nation
Status: Full-time 6-month TERM
Salary range: $ 28.00 – $ 38.00 per hour

Position:
- Coordinate community meetings, information sessions, workshops, and consultation events related to
settlement planning - Engage Band Members living both on-reserve and off-reserve
- Ensure community engagement processes are transparent, respectful, and culturally appropriate
- Work with Elders, youth, and community leaders to incorporate Anishinaabe values and perspectives
into planning activities - Establish and support a Settlement Advisory Committee
- Coordinate committee meetings, agendas, minutes, and follow-up activities
- Provide administrative support and assist with future planning initiatives identified through the
settlement process - Collect and document community feedback through surveys, voting exercises, focus groups, and
community discussions - Prepare reports and recommendations for Chief and Council
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and governance is an asset
Working Conditions
- This is a term position for six (6) months with the possibility of extension based on operational needs
- Some evening and community meetings may be required.
- Travel will be required
Successful candidate will be required to submit a clean Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
