Strategic Funding and Proposal Specialist
The Strategic Funding and Proposal Specialist is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting
funding proposals, grant applications, business cases, and other funding-related documents that support the
organization’s strategic priorities. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with management, program
staff, finance personnel, community members, and external partners to prepare accurate, persuasive, and wellsupported proposals that align with funding criteria.
This position requires exceptional writing, research, project management, budgeting, and organizational skills,
along with the ability to translate program ideas into compelling funding proposals.

Position:
- Research and identify grant, government, corporate, foundation, and private funding opportunities.
- Monitor funding portals and subscription services for new opportunities.
- Evaluate eligibility requirements and funding criteria.
- Maintain a funding opportunity calendar including deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Recommend funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
- Meet with department directors to gather project information.
- Coordinate proposal development meetings Prepare budgets in collaboration with Finance and program
managers. - Maintain close and open lines of communication with the Executive Director
- Develop and maintain proposal databases and tracking systems.
Qualifications: and Education - Postsecondary education in administration, Indigenous governance, community development, or a
related field is an asset - Experience working with First Nations governments or Indigenous organizations.
- Knowledge of Indigenous funding agencies and government funding streams.
- Familiarity with land-based education, community development, infrastructure, health, economic
development, environmental stewardship, or cultural revitalization projects. - Experience preparing proposals exceeding $100,000 in funding value.

- Office environment with occasional travel.
- Extended periods of computer work.
- Tight deadlines during funding cycles.
- Occasional evening or weekend work to meet proposal deadlines.
Successful candidate will be required to submit a clean Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
